About

Ayana, an internationally trained teacher, is now also a certified and accredited Sandra Danse ambassador having completed her level 1, level 2 and level 3 qualifications offered by Académie de Danse Orientale Sandra – Nice France. Ayana is the only teacher offering this method in South Africa. Quality tuition by one of the very few international qualified teachers in South Africa.

Her love of dance began very early when her mother enrolled her into her first ballet class at the age of six.

She discovered her passion for belly dancing in 2004 while watching a live belly show.  The very next week Ayana attended a day workshop and was instantly hooked.  It’s been belly dancing ever since then.

The Beginning

Desert Jewels Belly Dance Company was established in 2009 by director principle Ayana.  The company offers a unique blend of classical and modern Egyptian, folkloric and western cabaret tuition.  We are passionate about our art and strive to stay true to the authentic Middle Eastern oriental dance form.

Ayana’s lifelong love for dance, music and culture has inspired her to continuously explore and study this art form.  Through this Ayana brings a certain personal touch, unrivalled enthusiasm, passion and positive energy to the classes.

Ayana brings passion, and technique blended with her sensual style.  She is proficient with various props – Isis wings, cane, sword, veil, veil fans, shemadan, sagat and fire.

She continues to enrich and pursue her education in the beautiful art form of Oriental Dance which is continually evolving. She has attended workshops conducted by international dancers and Belly dance Superstars.
